This late early 20th century oil seascape by Frances H McKay features several cottages along a lane leading to the sea. The houses are surrounded by white picket fences, green grass and trees. Several figures can be seen waling to the harbor filled with small white sailboats.
Frances H McKay was an artist born in 1880 in Rockport, Maine. The artist painted primarily coastal scenes (usually with trees and houses along a path leading to the ocean) in the impressionist style. Many of the paintings also had figures in them. Many of McKay's pieces were displayed at the World's Fair in New York in 1939. Little else is known about this talented artist.
This oil is surrounded by a gold frame and cream linen mat.
A wonderful piece for coastal homes. House-ready.
