A superb 19th-century English tea caddy in the classical sarcophagus form, richly patinated and retaining its original charm.

The beautifully figured wood (likely yew) showcases its natural burr grain, with elegant sloping sides and a raised plinth top. The interior features two compartments with original lids and small knobs, designed to store different types of loose tea—a ritualistic necessity in Georgian and Regency households.

Lined in velvet and fitted with an inlaid escutcheon, this caddy speaks to both craftsmanship and ceremony. Each side is adorned with brass ring handles in a grapevine motif, a subtle nod to the refinement of the period.
